Position: Team Lead - Overnight Receiver (Freezer)

Spartan Nash is a food solutions company that delivers grocery and household goods across the United States. This role is responsible for leading and assisting with coordinating warehouse functions, ensuring shift responsibilities are completed in a timely and accurate manner, and providing on‑the‑job training to associates.

Mon - Fri (1:00am – Finish)

Responsibilities
  • Lead and assist with coordinating warehouse functions such as selecting, receiving, shipping, inventory, and put‑away.
  • Move, handle, and store dry groceries, frozen foods, dairy products, produce, poultry, fish, beef, pork, and related products as identified on order forms.
  • Work with associates to ensure selection, receiving, shipping, and storage are completed accurately and on time.
  • Assign work to associates, review for accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with operational and safety policies.
  • Assist in resolving issues with associates and/or customers that arise during the shift.
  • Provide training on equipment use, process expectations, and work methods.
  • Review paperwork (product orders, receiving/unloading, shipping) for accuracy and procedural compliance.
  • Collaborate with Warehouse Supervisors to prepare shift work schedules, streamline workflow, and implement new procedures.
  • Provide performance feedback to the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Operate powered industrial equipment such as forklifts, electric pallet jacks, high‑extender high‑lift, and walkers.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, disposing of pallet boards, wood chips, and other trash, and cleaning spills promptly.
  • Conduct inspections of powered equipment using a safety checklist.
  • Report damaged product and quality issues, and notify supervisors of out‑of‑stock or low‑volume items.
  • Participate in product selection, put‑away, rotation, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • One year of warehouse/distribution experience.
  • Certified or willing to obtain certification on all required powered industrial equipment (forklift, electric pallet jack, long‑tongued electric pallet jack, high‑extender high‑lift).
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation during 8‑10‑hour shifts.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, day and evening hours, and overtime.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to multi‑task and prioritize.
  • Capacity to provide work direction, training, and problem solving for others.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, and knowledgeable of warehouse systems.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced warehouse operation.
  • Proficiency with material handling equipment and adherence to safety practices.
  • Experience working in multi‑temperature areas (freezer, cooler, dry conditions).
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Team‑player who follows direction from supervisors.
  • Ability to work under pressure, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Accurate and thorough in all assigned tasks.
Physical Requirements

Regular sitting, walking, standing, handling, grasping, and twisting of objects, tools, or controls; frequent use of foot controls. Ability to lift up to 75pounds with assistance as needed. Performance in a warehouse environment with potential temperature and humidity changes; moderate to high noise levels. Availability for weekend, holiday, day and night shifts, and overtime.
