The Office Support Specialist serves as the initial point of contact for the Sheriff’s Office. Screens visitors and provides prompt and efficient service to the general public in matters relating to reception duties for the Sheriff’s Office. Answers inquiries and/or directs the public to the appropriate individuals and departments whether in-person or answering the Sheriff’s Office general phone lines. Completes limited records duties during staff absences.
Performs various administrative duties for the Sheriff’s Office.
- Provides coverage and customer services for the Sheriff's Office reception area.
- Identifies and screens visitors entering the secure environment. Directs visitors to appropriate location.
- Maintains office forms and inventories. Orders office supplies, including toner orders for printer/copiers for the Sheriff’s Office. Send and receive packages and mail for Sheriff’s Office personnel
- Provides professional and confidential services and clerical administrative support to the Sheriff's Office.
- Processes initial public data requests.
- Provides administrative and clerical support to Records and Civil Process units.
- Processes initial gun permit applications and intake of civil process material to include acceptance of money for fees.
- Completes fingerprinting for civil purposes to include acceptance of money for fees.
- Serves as Public Notary for Sheriff’s Office personnel.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
This position requires a high school diploma or general education degree, and two to three years of clerical and business administration experience, or related office experience. Ability to receive Public Notary within 6 months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSAssociate’s degree in Administrative Assistant and Support, Business Administration, Public Administration and/or one to two years related experience in the public sector and/or county/city government.
HIRING RANGE / UNION$22.59 - $23.61 per hour / GU – Grade 5
HOURSFull-time hours equal 40 hours per week. Normal business hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday.
