Part‑Time English Language (EL) Adult Education Instructor-Day

Faribault Public Schools Adult Education is seeking a part‑time English Language (EL) instructor at the Faribault Education Center. This position follows the district calendar, with some summer hours required. The hours for this position are Monday – Thursday 9 am‑12 pm (approximately 12 hours per week). Summer hours may be slightly different. Pay rate difference for licensed versus non‑licensed instructors. Potential for more hours as needed and qualified.

• Design and develop instructional materials and lesson plans tailored to the needs and skill levels of adult learners through Burlington English.
• Provide dynamic and interactive instruction tailored for adult learners, employing diverse teaching methods to suit various learning styles effectively.
• Provide personalized instruction and support to meet the diverse needs of adult learners, including those with different learning abilities and backgrounds.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment by managing classroom dynamics, promoting mutual respect, and enforcing relevant policies and procedures.
• Incorporate technology tools and resources effectively into instruction to enhance learning outcomes and facilitate student engagement.
• Provide constructive feedback and academic support to students to help them achieve their learning goals and overcome challenges.
• Engage in ongoing professional development activities to stay updated on best practices, emerging trends, and innovations in adult education and to maintain licensure (if appropriate) and attend bi‑monthly PLC (Professional Learning Communities).
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievement, and prepare timely reports for internal and external stakeholders as required.
• Advocate for the needs and interests of adult learners, including advocating for resources, services, and support to promote student success and retention.
• Demonstrate sensitivity and cultural competence in working with diverse adult learner populations, respecting individual differences and promoting inclusivity.
• Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and other stakeholders through verbal, written, and digital channels to facilitate learning and collaboration.
• Adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards governing adult education programs, ensuring compliance in all instructional activities and interactions.

• Experience teaching basic level English to learners in which English is not their native language.

• Hold a valid Minnesota teaching license.
• Fluent in Spanish or Somali.
• Possess Minnesota Teaching Licensure in ELL, a Master's Degree in ELL, or an equivalent state‑approved degree.
• Have prior experience teaching students learning English.
• Be able and willing to teach digital literacy (computers, phones, etc) and proctor assessments.
• Familiarity with Adult Education Assessments (CASAS, TABE, GED).
