Agricultural Teacher 1.0 FTE - Faribault High School
The Agricultural Teacher provides high-quality instruction in our agricultural classes such as Raising chickens, Green House Management, Ag Econ, and Exploring Agriculture. The vacancy is for the school year.
Essential Functions- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials providing effective teaching strategies adhering to the District philosophy and vision.
- Creates a classroom environment that responds to the needs of individual learners.
- Plans and implements a program of study designed to meet individual students needs.
- Recognizes learning problems and makes referrals as appropriate.
- Encourages student enthusiasm for the learning process and development of good study habits.
- Adheres to health and safety policies including using precautions of safety and health plans.
- Communicates with parents in a timely manner; maintains positive and constructive communication with students, staff, parents and community.
- Shares responsibility during the school day for the supervision of students in all areas of the school.
- Protects students, equipment, materials and facilities taking necessary and reasonable precautions.
- Maintains appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time.
- Works cooperatively with parents and other staff members to reinforce the educational program for each child.
- Attends workshops, seminars and conferences as well as staff, department, curricular development and committee meetings and staff-development sessions as required.
- Encourages and facilitates work of other staff members in a collaborative, supportive environment.
- Evaluates accomplishments of students on a regular basis using multiple assessment methods.
- Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics and state and federal laws.
- Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory and is willing to share this knowledge for continual improvement of the school's curriculum.
- Works cooperatively with special education and EL staff to report student progress and growth, as applicable.
- Works with the Student Success Coordinator, district literacy coach(s) and curriculum to develop a strong classroom environment.
- Must be able to build strong, positive relationships with families and students.
- Must have experience with teaching agricultural topics.
Agricultural teaching license by the State of Minnesota. Faribault Public Schools is a rural Pre-K through Adult School District located about 50 miles south of the Twin Cities. The district serves approximately 3,700 students in Faribault and surrounding areas within the community of 23,000 citizens. District sites include one Pre-K and Kindergarten, two elementary schools (grades 1-5), one middle school (grades 6-8), one high school (grades 9-12), one area learning center (grades 9-12) and one education center for adult education.
