Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift (Maintenance)
Supports daily production operations through troubleshooting and continuous improvement of operational control systems. Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and equipment. Requires maintaining plant equipment, welding, machining and general maintenance type functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Partner with Quality Assurance, executing and supporting all Quality programs that ensure the production of Safe, Quality Foods.
- Responsible for analyzing and resolving electrical problems, troubleshooting and continuous improvement on analog/digital electronic control systems, PLC programming, HMI systems and computer network communications.
- Documents and implements work order procedures for new equipment/technology and the complete documentation of all system modifications.
- Responsible for installation and maintenance of Process Control Instruments, both pneumatic and electronic. Repairs, calibrates and cleans all instruments, pressure switches, flow tubes and gauges to ensure minimal downtime and efficient utilization of pneumatic and electronic equipment.
- Maintain flow of process insuring proper machine settings and speeds. Monitor key process points and maintain records insuring compliance to established standards.
- Act as a troubleshooter to identify line performance issues and assist in correcting them.
- Install, adjust and repair processing equipment in accordance with specifications. Maintains equipment utilizing a Planned Maintenance Program.
- Insure safety of all employees by continuously monitoring compliance to safety procedures and evaluating processes for safety risks. Responsible to oversee strict observance of all safety rules and will use extreme caution around moving machinery.
- Responsible for general housekeeping of maintenance and production areas, actively working toward a clean and safe work environment.
- Responsible for Good Manufacturing Practices compliance.
- Ability to consistently lift up to 50 lbs.
High school diploma or equivalent education experience. Two-year certificate from college or technical school; or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience1 to 3 years in a multi-shift manufacturing facility. Food production a plus.
Skills and Abilities- Ability to operate lathe, drill press, grinder and other tools in the fabrication and repair of equipment.
- Ability to operate arc and wire-feed welders.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Familiar with hydraulic and pneumatic driven controls and equipment.
- Proficient in computer applications to maintain computerized maintenance system.
- Ability to service and repair VFDs, electric motors, starters and servo motors in a production environment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass Company’s forklift certification training.
- Excellent communication skills necessary to interact with team members and leadership.
- Dependability and reliability.
- Safety awareness is a must.
- Ability to read, understand and comply with work directions, training manuals, safety rules, Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Processes.
- Computer knowledge helpful.
Maintain a strong working relationship with peers, Production, Quality Assurance, and Leadership.
Physical DemandsMust be able to work 12 hours sitting 5% and standing 95%. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
Work EnvironmentThe noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Hearing protection required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to caustic chemicals.
