This position exists to provide direct supervision of incarcerated individuals in a prison industry involved with the manufacture of a diverse array of standard and custom designed products, as well as an open variety of assembly. This complex position will be responsible for developing raw materials into a total finished product in conjunction with assembly and packaging functions and will require the application of interrelated skills.
This is accomplished by explaining and demonstrating to offenders layout and design; forming, trimming, cutting and drilling (Thermoforming)20%;
Chemical formulating and mixing, quality testing, and documentation (Chemicals)20%; layout, cutting, trimming, spraying and assembly (Upholstery) 20%; assembly and packaging (Mattress Assembly) 20%; heat sealing, production equipment set-up and calibration, custom kitting, assembly and packaging (Sub-Contract)20%.
This position has direct contact with incarcerated individuals and works within a Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF).
** Minimum Qualifications*
* To be qualified for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year of each job held.
A minimum of one (1) year experience in a manufacturing, industrial, production, or assembly setting.
_Applicants meeting the above qualification(s) will be further assessed on the following:_
+ Experience in cost and project estimating to develop pricing, negotiate discounts and contracts, and resolve claims.
+ Knowledge of manufacturing sufficient to demonstrate understanding of processes and equipment.
+ Ability to prioritize and schedule work to ensure product is ready at time promised.
+ Basic personal computer skills, including e-mail software and word processing skills, sufficient to communicate with supervisors, customers, and vendors and to maintain records and complete reports.
+ Interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively coordinate work with other departments and agencies.
+ Customer service skills sufficient to effectively and diplomatically deal with customer complaints and inquiries and to ensure customer satisfaction.
** Preferred Qualifications*
* The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:
+ One (1) year or more experience directing the work of others in a manufacturing, industrial, production, or assembly setting.
+ Experience supervising incarcerated individuals.
+
Experience with manufacturing, industrial, or production machines.
+
Experience with Epicor ERP solution software and OnBase.
+
Experience with inventory control processes, quality assurance, and piece/parts inspection.
+ Experience working directly with customers in addressing timelines, due dates, problem solving, and instruction issues.
+ Proficient computer skills to do order entry, Excel spreadsheets, and inventory management.
