The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides direct patient care including clinical health histories, routine physical exams and health education; performs routine lab work and interprets results; prescribes and administers medications and performs procedures such as long-acting reversible contraception insertions/removals. The APRN will utilize evidence-based guidelines in order to provide sexual and reproductive health care to a diverse patient population, with an emphasis on preventative care.
Serves as clinical manager for reproductive health services performed at Rice County Public Health. Maintains strict confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA requirements. May also serve in medical consultant role for Rice County Community Health.
- Provide reproductive, sexual health exams within scope of practice of an advance practice registered nurse.
- Oversees and gives work direction to agency staff related to reproductive health care; training staff as needed re: reproductive/sexual health care.
- Collaborates with Agency Director or Nursing Supervisor to develop/review reproductive health clinical policies and procedures.
- May serve in medical consultant role for Rice County Community Health.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This position requires a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Minnesota. Certification by a national organization to practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) or Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) and one to three years of experience as an advance practice registered nurse. Driver’s license required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSClinical work experience in a public health or community health setting. Bilingual English/Spanish.
HOURSPart-time
-up to 8 hours per week. Typical work hours between 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Non-Union – Grade 14
** Bargaining unit members holding a Public Health Nurse certification shall be paid two dollars ($4.00) per hour in addition to the wage on the salary schedule of the CBA for all hours worked, ending on December 31, 2027.
