Job Description:
Form Factor is seeking an Equipment Engineer II that will play a key role in supporting and optimizing manufacturing equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing, advanced assembly, and electronics test operations. This position is responsible for the installation, qualification, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of equipment to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient production performance. Working with moderate independence, the Equipment Engineer II applies engineering principles and data-driven problem‑solving techniques to improve equipment uptime, yield, throughput, quality, and overall operational effectiveness.
The successful candidate will partner closely with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Quality, Facilities, EHS, Automation, and external equipment suppliers to resolve equipment-related challenges, implement corrective and preventive actions, and support production objectives. This role contributes to equipment improvement projects, technology upgrades, capacity expansions, and reliability initiatives while developing technical expertise in semiconductor manufacturing systems. The Equipment Engineer II serves as a growing technical resource within the organization, helping drive operational excellence through continuous improvement, strong cross‑functional collaboration, and a commitment to safety, quality, and innovation.
- Equipment Installation & Qualification
- Lead equipment installation, startup, qualification, and release‑to‑production activities for assigned manufacturing tools.
- Develop qualification plans, execute validation activities, and maintain supporting documentation.
- Support equipment capacity expansions, technology upgrades, and process transfers.
- Equipment Troubleshooting & Reliability
- Independently troubleshoot equipment failures and process interruptions using systematic problem‑solving methodologies.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve equipment stability.
- Collaborate with suppliers and cross‑functional teams to resolve recurring issues and minimize downtime.
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Develop and optimize preventive maintenance procedures and schedules.
- Analyze equipment performance trends, maintenance history, alarms, and operational data to improve reliability.
- Support predictive maintenance initiatives through the use of manufacturing data and equipment analytics.
- Equipment Performance Monitoring
- Monitor key metrics including uptime, utilization, throughput, maintenance effectiveness, and repeat downtime events.
- Utilize statistical tools, dashboards, FDC, SPC, and other analytics systems to identify improvement opportunities.
- Recommend and implement solutions that improve equipment performance and production efficiency.
- Vendor & Spare Parts Coordination
- Coordinate vendor support activities, repairs, upgrades, and equipment improvement projects.
- Manage critical spare parts requirements and support inventory optimization efforts.
- Participate in supplier interactions to support equipment reliability and operational goals.
