Blue Yonder Defense Solutions (BYDS) is seeking a Software Architect with deep expertise in Defense Logistics Management Specifications (DLMS) or enterprise‑grade Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems to lead the design and modernization of mission‑critical logistics integration platforms. This role will be responsible for architecting scalable, resilient solutions that support complex document exchange, transformation, and orchestration workflows across internal and external partners, including government and defense systems.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in EDI standards, message processing systems, and integration architectures, and can bridge traditional EDI systems with modern, cloud‑native, event‑driven platforms. This is for a Government project for US Department of Defense.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Architecture & System Design - Define and lead architecture for ELMS/EDI‑based integration platforms. Establish reference architectures and design standards for EDI and integration solutions. Design for scalability, resilience, and maintainability
  • DLMS / EDI Domain Expertise - Architect and support systems aligned with Defense Logistics Management (DLMS) or equivalent EDI experience. Interpret logistics transaction sets, code values, and business rules. Design mappings between DLMS/EDI formats and internal BYDS canonical data models. Have an understanding of modern APIs and event streaming concepts.
  • EDI Standards & Message Processing - design and implement solutions using EDI standards such as ANSI X12, EDIFACT. Architect the solution to handle transaction validations, acknowledgements, error handling and reconciliation, and batch and real‑time processing requirements.
  • Integration & Transformation Architecture - design message transformation pipelines using mapping engines, canonical data models, and schema transformation tools. Implement integration patterns such as hub‑and‑spoke and event‑driven integration.
  • Cloud & Modernization Strategy - lead modernization of legacy DLMS/EDI systems into cloud‑native platforms and enable API‑based DLMS/EDI‑driven workflows.
  • Data & Canonical Modeling - Define and govern canonical data models for enterprise‑wide integration. Ensure consistency across DLMS/EDI transactions, APIs, and internal data models
  • Collaboration & Leadership - work closely with product, engineering, and external partners (including government stakeholders). Mentor engineering teams on DLMS/EDI concepts and integration best practices. Participate in design reviews and architectural governance.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering and design with strong focus on integration and EDI or DLMS systems.
  • Direct experience with Defense Logistics Management Standards (DLMS).
  • Hands‑on experience with EDI or DLMS standards such as ANSI X12 or EDIFACT.
  • Coding experience with Java, Java script and SQL
  • Experience designing and implementing EDI or DLMS processing pipelines and integrations.
  • Strong understanding of message transformation and mapping, transaction lifecycle management, error handling and reconciliation

  • Familiarity with MILSTRIP / MILSTRAP processes
  • Familiarity with Supply chain and logistics domain models
