As a Lead Software Engineer within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh PA, Cleveland, OH, Dallas, TX or Birmingham, AL.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and lead the implementation of Java-based microservices using Spring Boot and modern architectural patterns.
- Provide technical leadership across the full software development lifecycle (design, build, test, deploy, support).
- Drive best practices for code quality, scalability, security, and performance.
- Lead and mentor onshore and offshore developers; perform code reviews and provide technical guidance.
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, Dev Ops, and QA teams to deliver enterprise-grade solutions.
- Oversee CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and deployment strategies.
- Monitor application health and performance; proactively identify and resolve production issues.
- Ensure system stability, compliance, and operational excellence through effective monitoring and support.
- Java with strong hands‑on experience in Spring Boot
- Microservices architecture and distributed systems
- Apache Kafka for messaging and event‑driven architecture
- Build tools:
Gradle, Maven - CI/CD tools:
Git, Jenkins, UDeploy - Cloud platforms:
Open Shift and/or public cloud services (AWS, Azure) - API management:
Apigee - Integrated Development Environments (IDEs):
Experience with tools used to compile and develop code (e.g., Visual Studio Code or similar) - Experience building and maintaining monitoring dashboards using tools such as Dynatrace, Humio, or Splunk
- Strong debugging skills, including:
- Performance tuning
- JVM profiling
- Capacity planning
- Hands‑on experience with application monitoring, maintenance, and support to ensure stability and compliance
- Strong experience with SQL databases, including Oracle
- Experience with No
SQL databases such as MongoDB
- Creates and leads the technical design and development of software solutions.
- Proposes & designs software solutions to address complex business needs. Prepares technical and procedural documentation required.
- Facilitates complex problem resolution.
- Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues. Reviews coding, testing, and documentation of software.
- Applies modern principles, methodologies and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities.

Qualifications- Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience.
- Certifications are often desired. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Base Salary: $55,000.00 – $
Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
