Location: Farmington Hills, MI – (3 days in office, can be fully remote if candidate can’t relocate)

Must Haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
• 7+ years of experience in driver and application development for SoC in AD/ADAS environments
• Hands-on technical leadership and team management experience
• Strong experience with QNX and Linux operating systems

General Responsibilities:

A large automotive supplier in Farmington Hills, MI is looking for an experienced and dynamic software design Lead Engineer to work independently hands on and lead a technical team in developing an advanced automotive System on Chip (SoC) software platform. This platform will primarily operate on a Qualcomm Snapdragon system-on-chip (SoC) but must also be configurable to run on various SoC's from other leading vendors such as Renesas, Texas Instruments, NXP, Nvidia, AMD, Intel, and Ambarella.

The software platform will primarily use the Blackberry QNX Operating System, with the flexibility to run Redhat Automotive and Ubuntu Linux operating systems as well.

Job Responsibilities:

• Technology Development: Ensure the platform supports standard SoC interfaces including serial boot, PCIe, DDR, Flash ROM, MMU, Ethernet, and USB. Integrate and support standard automotive sensors, with a focus on AD/ADAS, such as cameras, radar, lidar, sonar, and inertia sensing. Manage the development of image processing capabilities within the platform. Implement system partitioning, hypervisors, and container engine technology to enhance platform flexibility and security.
• Team Leadership: Lead a team of software engineers to develop an automotive SoC software platform, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Encourage collaboration, creativity, and innovation within the team. Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and provide mentorship and guidance to team members. Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and budget to meet project goals.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, product engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the software platform meets performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Risk Management: Assess risks and uncertainties associated with software development initiatives, proactively identifying potential roadblocks and developing mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Partnership Management: Support the Project Manager and Project Leader in identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships with technology vendors, startups, research institutions, and other key players in the automotive ecosystem. Collaborate with partners to accelerate innovation and drive mutual business success.
• Supervisory Responsibilities: leading, building and mentoring the efforts of engineers who are responsible for sub-project activities.
• Travel: Domestic and international may be required as needed. The candidate will occasionally need to travel to multiple global locations to support project development. (1-2 times international & 1-2 times domestic per year)
