Summary
The applicant would be the lead warranty interface between the customer quality and engineering departments and the manufacturing facilities. Using OEM warranty systems, warranty data would be pulled and analyzed to suit both OEM warranty information requests as well as internal requests. The applicant would be required to work closely with the manufacturing facilities to ensure that the warranty claims data is used to drive lost costs associated with warranty down.
EssentialFunctions
- Provide up‑to‐date warranty data and analysis to OEMs and Astemo Manufacturing sites.
- Manage warranty part returns at OEM warranty center and present warranty teardown analysis.
- Ensure that affected plants and Astemo Design Group understand the root causes of warranty found through part returns and that cross‑functional actions are quickly taken to eliminate said cause.
- Work with Astemo manufacturing sites and accounting departments to evaluate and reduce warranty debits by OEM.
- Work with OEMs and Astemo Accounting department to lead warranty recovery efforts through pass‑thru chargebacks, warranty claim disputes, and warranty share rate negotiations.
- Work with Astemo Accounting department to calculate warranty run‑out reserve cost on a quarterly basis to ensure accuracy of reserve amount.
- Collaborate with team to ensure PowerPoint presentations are compiled for customer visits to Astemo’s various manufacturing facilities.
- Work with internal sales and engineering teams to calculate estimated warranty cost over the life of a program to ensure Astemo is prepared to acquire profitable new business through quotation process.
- Use warranty claims data to drive ownership percentages down as they pertain to warranty bills by OEMs.
- Provide continuous updates to customers pertaining to status of warranty improvement items.
- Ensure that manufacturing facilities establish clear and concise timelines for when action items will be implemented and ensure they work towards meeting these timelines.
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
- Minimum of 1‑3 years of experience in Warranty analysis with emphasis on Ford Customer Portal and Warranty Management Systems (GWC, GSAR, Covisint);
Nissan WLRC & 3
MIS claim dispute process;
Subaru warranty control limits;
Mazda/VW/Mercedez share rate adjustment process;
Honda CQ/WRP Process. - Must be willing to travel to support customer needs (frequency up to 30%).
- Ability to self‑prioritize and work efficiently both alone and in groups.
- Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
- Brake product commodity experience preferred (Calipers).
- Preference for certification in formal problem‑solving methodologies:
Six Sigma Black Belt, Shainin Red X, etc.
Additionally, the ability to work independently with minimal direction is required as are strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience with PCs and application software, such as MS Office tools, is also required.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree with 3 – 5 years and/or Master’s degree with 1 – 2 years in Engineering or Manufacturing related with a preference to Quality focus.
Experience:
Minimum of 1‑3 years applicable experience in automotive.
Job level determined by various factors such as organization size, responsibility, career stage, and capabilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
leading and mentoring the efforts of engineers who are responsible for sub‑project activities.
Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Travel: Up to 30% domestic and international travel may be required. Travel may include visiting customers, suppliers, and manufacturing sites.
