Overview

Amentum Advanced Solutions (AS) is a performance unit of Amentum Engineering & Technology. AS specializes in the development, design, construction, and operation of unique and complex research & development, scientific, and test facilities, including wind tunnels, rocket test stands, climatic chambers, jet engine test cells, acoustic chambers, altitude test facilities, captive trajectory systems, and nuclear facilities. Projects span automotive, motorsports, defense, nuclear, and aerospace markets with clients across North America, Europe, and Asia.

• Develop hardware assembly and wiring diagrams for control and data acquisition systems.
• Develop control system software designs for temperature, pressure, humidity, flow, force, motion, system safety, and other advanced process and electromechanical systems.
• Develop control system software in PLC ladder logic, function block, and HMI programming.
• Develop interfaces to facility equipment using hardwired interfaces and industrial networks.
• Apply closed-loop control methods, classical and modern, to continuously variable systems.
• Provide quality system processes, including checking the work of others, following standard procedures, and ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
• Support hardware assembly and fabrication.
• Provide on-site team direction for facility startup, checkout, and commissioning activities domestically and abroad.
• Communicate with clients and management regarding project status; coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure project success.
• Estimate design, material, installation, checkout, commissioning, and activation costs; plan labor resources and project milestones to meet scope, budget, and schedule.
• Develop proposals to capture future work with current clients and new markets.
• Lead control and data acquisition projects through all phases: design, fabrication, implementation, testing and commissioning.

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in control or data acquisition system design, implementation, and commissioning.
• Professional Engineer registration in good standing is a plus.
• Experience as a software developer in a high-level environment (C/C++/C#) or with tools such as LabVIEW, MATLAB, and SIMULINK/SIMSCAPE.
• Experience as a PLC and HMI software developer in major environments (e.g., Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, Emerson PCI ME) with working knowledge of other environments.
• Experience selecting, specifying, and procuring process instrumentation and actuation hardware, PLCs, drive and motion systems, automation network hardware, interconnect cabling, and supporting equipment.
• Solid math background for data uncertainty calculations, digital filter algorithms, control transfer function realizations, and process simulation.
• Ability to lead single- and multi-discipline engineering teams to deliver technically successful control and data systems.
• Ability to train, encourage, and mentor junior colleagues; willingness to develop innovative approaches to challenges.

• Office, lab environments, or indoor construction-site environments (>80% focus).
• Field work outside (10–20%); travel to customer sites for meetings, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting (>30%).
