· Contract (Statement of Work)
We're looking for a hands-on MBSE Systems Engineer to capture complex system architecture in Cameo Systems Modeler (v24) using SysML and Model-Based Systems Engineering methods. You'll work directly with engineering teams to turn messy, real-world technical discussions into structured, traceable models that give systems, software, safety and architecture teams a single shared technical picture to work from.
This is a fast-moving engagement where requirements and direction won't always be fully defined. You'll need to make confident progress with incomplete information, ask the right questions, and bring clarity where it's missing. If you enjoy being the person who turns ambiguity into a clean, accurate model, this is for you.
What you'll do- Work with engineering teams to understand how complex systems function — how requirements, constraints, signals and interfaces relate to each other
- Translate technical information from engineering discussions into structured SysML models in Cameo
- Develop and maintain models covering functional behaviour, system architecture, interfaces, signal flow, constraints and requirement relationships
- Use Cameo to support requirements capture, requirement tracking and traceability
- Build functional models that clearly show what the system does, how functions interact, and how behaviour is allocated across the wider system
- Capture and type signals as they cross between related parts of the model
- Identify modelling gaps, ambiguities and unclear requirements, and work with engineers to resolve them
- Review models with the original engineering stakeholders to confirm technical accuracy
- Strong hands-on Cameo Systems Modeler experience — ideally v24
- Strong SysML experience
- A solid grasp of the core areas of MBSE, with particular strength in functional modelling
- Proven ability to capture requirements, functions, interfaces, signals and constraints in a structured model
- Experience using Cameo for requirement tracking and traceability
- The ability to listen to engineering stakeholders, make sense of unclear or incomplete information, and turn it into accurate model content
- Strong technical communication skills — you can explain complex systems clearly
- Comfort operating with uncertainty and making progress without highly specific direction
- Strong attention to modelling detail, especially around signal relationships, functional behaviour and model structure
- Experience in complex, regulated engineering environments — defence, aerospace, ground vehicles or embedded systems especially valued
