Senior​/Principal Engineer- Transmission & Driveline

At Drive System Design, engineers don't get pigeonholed - they work across an exceptionally broad and challenging portfolio of projects that span automotive, aerospace, marine, defense, commercial vehicle, and off-highway sectors. Our teams design and develop next-generation electric and hybrid systems for both vehicle propulsion and power generation. Using a simulation-led, system-level engineering approach, engineers are involved from concept through design, development, and in-house testing.

Lead the design and development of transmission and driveline systems, driving innovation, quality, and project delivery.

• Utilizing state of the art simulation techniques and design tools to design, develop and prototype transmission, driveline, and actuation systems
• Developing new methods to solve industry problems, generating market leading solutions.
• Responsible for the delivery of technical work packages and whole projects
• Leading by example implementing DSD's technical processes to ensure it is executed to the highest quality when developing others in standards of drawings and technical reporting
• Managing multi person/cross functional projects to achieve budgeted margin and maintain an excellent relationship with customers, whilst being accountable to the operations board for their outcome
• Developing and maintaining strategic relationships on behalf of the function with key account responsibilities to maintain and build revenue streams in your sector
• Taking an active role in the professional development of others within the function
• An active stake holder in the Mechanical Engineering functions quality system, generating and developing technical and procedural capabilities and ensuring their continuous development
• Marketing DSD through technical and commercial forums, conferences, and white papers
• Managing challenging proposals and quotes that define the strategy of the project while mitigating technical and commercial risks
• Strive to continuously improve individual performance through the acquisition of new skills and knowledge
• Taking responsibility for your own continual development

• Degree or higher in mechanical engineering or related discipline
• Extensive experience of automotive transmission design and/or analysis experience
• High standard of competency in design and CAE analysis of rotating systems
• Solved challenging problems by developing new capabilities or techniques
• An understanding of market trends and challenges, and applications of existing technology within the industry
• A track record of successfully applying non-standard technical solutions and coaching others to achieve the same
• Developed a strong technical reputation and relationship with customers and suppliers
• Mentored others in their technical development and the quality and value of their output
• Successfully managed large, multi-person and multi-discipline projects through their complete development cycle
• High level of expertise in some of the key software packages within drivetrain engineering (SMT MASTA, Romax, Creo, NX, Catia, Matlab, Ansys)
• Generated and managed commercial opportunities to a successful conclusion
