Bosch Motorsport supplies electronics, sensors, actuators, and engineering services to racing series and teams worldwide. Bosch Motorsport North America provides a collaborative work environment in which employees support technical projects and business objectives.
As a member of the engineering team, this position supports application and development engineers on professional motor sport projects in North America. Responsibilities include contributing to the development, integration, and support of motor sport technologies in accordance with defined project requirements.
What You Will DoThe Motorsport Customer Application Engineer serves as a primary technical contact at customer facilities and race tracks, supporting the development, integration, validation, and optimization of motor sport electronic systems and software. The role requires the ability to perform the essential functions in fast-paced work environments and to travel domestically and internationally approximately 50-80 days per year.
- Customer Application and Program Coordination Provide on-site application engineering support for motor sport products, including engine controllers, vehicle control units, displays, power distribution units, and telemetry modules, at customer facilities and race tracks. Gather and document technical requirements, support project schedule development, and coordinate customer-facing track activities with internal development teams.
- Customer and Team Technical Support Serve as a technical point of contact at track locations for supported race teams. Diagnose and resolve system-level issues within the scope of the role and coordinate with customers and internal teams regarding approved parameter changes.
- Controls and Hybrid Strategy Development Develop and document control strategies for internal-combustion-engine and hybrid powertrains, including hybrid energy recovery systems, torque coordination, and related control algorithms.
- Vehicle Electrical Architecture Develop and validate vehicle electrical and communication network topologies, including analog signals, digital signals, CAN, and Ethernet configurations, in accordance with defined technical requirements.
- Simulation and Virtual Development Develop, maintain, and execute virtual simulation environments using Software-in-the-Loop, Hardware-in-the-Loop, and Driver-in-the-Loop methods to validate controls and support trackside system setup.
- Software Tools and Standards Develop and maintain internal software tools and scripts using MATLAB, Python, C#, or comparable technologies. Contribute to documented coding standards and software architecture practices.
- Technical Knowledge Sharing Provide job-related technical guidance, share documented best practices, and support knowledge transfer among engineering team members.
- Domestic and International Travel Travel domestically and internationally approximately 50-80 days per year to provide application engineering support at customer facilities, test tracks, race tracks, and development locations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- At least five years of job-related application engineering experience gained through professional, academic, or project-based work.
- At least five years of job-related experience using data-acquisition and data-analysis tools to evaluate technical system performance.
