Cost Analyst (Finance) – Value Creation / Cost Reduction
Location: Auburn Hills, MI 48326 (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (flexible as needed)
Pay: $43.77/hr

to support a high-impact value creation program focused on reducing direct material cost for current production vehicles/parts. This
Cost Analyst
role is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in cross-functional work, builds strong business cases, and can validate savings opportunities using clean, defensible analysis. If you’ve worked in purchasing finance, manufacturing finance, product finance, FP&A, or cost engineering, this is a strong next step. (Cost Analyst role repeated intentionally for search visibility.)
Responsibilities
- Build, validate, and defend financial business cases supporting cost reduction and direct material savings
- Partner daily with a cross-functional team (buyer, engineer, cost engineer, finance) to size opportunities and support negotiations
- Analyze supplier quotes and cost drivers using “should cost” thinking and cost breakdowns
- Create supplier fact packs and negotiation support materials; track progress to savings targets
- Monitor savings governance, documentation standards, and approval requirements
- Interpret complex data across multiple systems; communicate status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders
- Support reporting for purchasing finance (flow-through, carryover, incremental savings concepts)
- Maintain high accuracy and process discipline in financial models, trackers, and presentations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in
Finance, Accounting, or Economics
(Master’s preferred) - 5+ years
in Purchasing Finance, Product Finance, Manufacturing Finance, Vehicle Cost Engineering, Plant Cost Analyst, FP&A, or similar analytical role - Advanced
Excel
skills (models, pivots, lookups; strong data accuracy) - Experience building business cases and presenting recommendations to cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with cost reduction programs, savings validation, and supplier negotiation support
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Automotive and/or manufacturing finance experience strongly preferred
