Job Summary
As a Tax Senior Manager, you will oversee and review financial information for clients, including business and individual tax returns. You will gain exposure to a diverse client base across multiple industries while managing client relationships and acting as a liaison between internal staff and leaders to ensure high-quality work is delivered.
Responsibilities- Tax Strategy and Engagement Oversight
- Develop and implement comprehensive tax planning strategies that align with client financial objectives.
- Analyze complex tax scenarios such as mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions to provide optimal solutions.
- Manage a portfolio of tax engagements, supervise staff, and review their work for accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor progress, budgets, and timelines, making adjustments to meet client expectations.
- Research and Analysis
- Stay abreast of evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry developments.
- Lead tax research efforts to address client inquiries and resolve complex tax issues.
- Apply updated knowledge to client engagements and internal training initiatives.
- Client Communication
- Effectively communicate complex tax concepts and strategies to clients.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on tax-related matters.
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted advisor.
- Compliance and Documentation
- Review and oversee tax return preparation for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor filing deadlines, extensions, and other compliance requirements.
- Ensure adherence to internal quality control standards.
- Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with other tax professionals to share insights and best practices.
- Supervise and mentor staff, providing guidance and training.
- Foster a collaborative team environment and participate in internal training sessions.
- Process Improvement and Innovation
- Identify opportunities to enhance tax workflows and methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality control procedures.
- Strategic Business Development
- Collaborate with partners and senior management to identify business development opportunities.
- Contribute to proposal development and presentations to prospective clients.
- Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise subordinate team members.
- Other Responsibilities
- Prepare work for physical demands, including prolonged desk work and lifting up to 15 pounds.
- Travel may be frequent and unpredictable based on client needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in a professional service environment.
- CPA or Enrolled Agent license.
- Experience with CCH Pro System FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax.
- Responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement.
- Preferred:
Juris Doctor (JD) for specialty positions.
