About the Role:
Consumers Energy is advancing its existing AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) program, which has been in production for approximately 15 years. The next phase, AMI 2.0, will focus on enhancing smart meter capabilities, including data analytics, interoperability, communication protocols, centralized management, and edge components.
The Sourcing Manager will support the AMI 2.0 project as a dedicated sourcing and program owner. The ideal candidate will have experience in the utility/metering space, a strong understanding of the associated supply base, and experience in sourcing, category management, procurement, and supplier management.
Department / Project:- 100% dedicated to the AMI 2.0 project.
- Focused on utility metering and grid modernization.
- Dedicated sourcing/program owner supporting the AMI project team.
- Will not support sourcing activities for other business groups.
- Work will be focused in Jackson, MI, between One Energy Plaza and the Parnall office.
- Required to travel to Jackson from time to time to support the project.
- Lead sourcing activities specifically for the AMI 2.0 project.
- Identify and source materials and vendors needed for the program.
- Support RFI and RFP processes.
- Analyze sourcing and vendor results.
- Support contracting activities.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and the broader AMI project team.
- Manage supplier relationships and sourcing strategy for the program.
- Support sourcing related to data analytics, interoperability, and data/communication protocols.
Skills & Experience:
- Prior AMI / utility metering project experience.
- Strong power/utility industry knowledge.
- Understanding of the metering/grid modernization supply base and vendors.
- Sourcing and procurement experience.
- Knowledge of category management principles.
- RFI/RFP experience.
- Contracting experience.
- Understanding of smart meter technologies.
- Understanding of communication protocols and interoperability.
- Understanding of related AMI components.
