CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIMEFull-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The starting time for this position is 8:30 a.m.
General SummaryUnder direction, provides direct nursing services in a clinical, geographic or programmatic area.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities- Provides direct nursing care in an assigned area, using appropriate authorized nursing skills.
- Teaches, consults and acts as public health resource person to individuals, families, community groups and other health care professionals.
- Documents appropriate data, activities and outcomes in the client records, utilizing the required recording format.
- Works with clients to assess their needs, provide information or assistance and resolve problems.
- Assists in coordinating the activities of an assigned clinic and/or program area.
- Participates on selected agency committees as directed.
- Participates in the orientation of staff.
- Generates, evaluates and chooses the best alternative in order to make a determination, draw conclusions or solve a problem.
- Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
- Be licensed by the Michigan Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse, or be in the process of securing Michigan licensure
- Minimum of one (1) year of professional nursing experience
- Previous public health or community health nursing experience is preferred

- Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other technology applications.
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated decision-making ability and problem solving skills
- Communicate highly complex information to people with varying levels of knowledge
- Effectively speak, write and understand the English language
- Speak and understand a language other than English (Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian) is preferred.
- Adapt behavior or work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected situations
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other professionals, clients and the public
- Conduct oneself with tact and courtesy
