Position: Department Aide - Sales (Full-Time)

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for sales within the Department of Special Services, including:
    Hawk Passes, theatre tickets, program registrations, concession and bar operations, facility rentals and special events.
  • Complete monthly financial reports, track program participation and develop reports.
  • Develop promotional campaigns and materials.
  • Coordinate corporate and public partnerships.
  • Manage, interview, train and schedule team members.
  • Lead regular walkthroughs and safety training to maintain compliance with local and state codes in the area of food sales.
  • Assist with program registrations and registration software.
Previous Work Experience

3+ years of experience in sales. Experience working EFT transactions preferred. Rec Trac or other booking software preferred.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, hospitality management or related degree is preferred.

Special Skills & Training
  • Typing (45 wpm minimum), filing, knowledge of general office equipment.
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills for extensive contact with the public and other employees.
  • Must be proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, and Excel.
  • Serv Safe Food Manager Certification & TIPS Certification required; must receive within 90 days of hire.
Work Schedule

ASAP

40 hours per week;
Tuesday - Saturday; 10:00a.m.

- 6:00p.m., some overtime may be required.

Summary of Benefits

The following is a brief overview of the benefits offered for this position. A new employee orientation will occur for each new, regular employee and will include detailed information about the benefit offerings.

PAID TIME OFF

Employees earn paid vacation based on years of service, beginning at 10 days per year and increasing with tenure up to 25 days per year. Vacation eligibility is determined annually. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, employees are also entitled to three personal business days each year.

There are thirteen and one-half (1/2) paid holidays each calendar year:
New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Day before Christmas, Christmas Day, and Day before New Years.

Medical Benefits

Medical and prescription drug coverage is offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. An employee has the choice between three PPO plans and pays a monthly premium determined annually during each open-enrollment period which is in January of each year. New employees are eligible for medical coverage the first of the month following 30 days of employment.

The City also allows full-time employees who have health insurance through another provider to opt out of the City’s medical coverage and receive $400 per month in lieu of coverage.

DENTAL & VISION

Dental and vision insurance are also available for regular employees through Delta Dental and Blue vision with VSP, respectively. The employee does not pay a monthly premium determined annually during each open-enrollment period which is in January of each year. Vision coverage becomes effective on the first of the month following the employee’s hire date, while dental coverage begins on the first of the month after 30 days of employment.

Life Insurance is provided to each full-time employee by the City at no cost to the employee in an amount of $40,000.

HEALTH & FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT

Health Savings Account (HSA)

Available only to employees enrolled in the High Deductible Health Plan. City contributes: $500 and $1000 for two-person & family. You can make additional pre-tax contributions up to the IRS annual limit. Funds roll over year to year and remain yours even if you change jobs. Use for medical, dental, vision, and prescription expenses.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

Available to all benefit-eligible employees. Funded by employee pre-tax payroll contributions.
