Harper Whitfield is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Bookkeeper to support the Firm's financial operations. This role is responsible for providing bookkeeping services for client engagements.
The ideal candidate values accuracy, consistency, and accountability, takes pride in maintaining organized financial records, and enjoys working in a collaborative professional environment. This position requires strong attention to detail, sound accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Responsibilities- Maintain client bookkeeping records and accounting files.
- Record journal entries and process routine accounting transactions.
- Reconcile client bank, credit card, loan, and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Prepare Forms 1099 and related year-end reporting.
- Prepare sales tax, property tax, and payroll tax filings, as assigned.
- Communicate professionally, support client engagements in accordance with Firm standards.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintain supporting documentation for all reconciliations.
- Identify unusual transactions, variances, or potential issues and elevate appropriately.
- Ensure financial information is complete and accurate.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency within processes.
- Follow established procedures while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Support additional accounting and administrative projects, as assigned.
- Communicate proactively on outstanding items, reconciliation issues, or deadlines.
- Provide professional and responsive service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment.
- Sage 300 or similar accounting software.
- Quick Books Online and/or Quick Books Desktop.
- Minimum three (3) years of bookkeeping, accounting support, or related experience.
- Experience performing account reconciliations, maintaining financial records, and preparing financial statements.
- Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant bookkeeping experience will be considered.
- Experience working in a CPA firm, accounting firm, or professional services environment.
- Consistently maintain accurate and timely financial records.
- Complete reconciliations with minimal errors.
- Meet monthly, quarterly, and year-end deadlines.
- Proactively identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Demonstrate professionalism and responsiveness when supporting clients and internal stakeholders.
