West Woods Upper Elementary Collaborative Preschool - Paraprofessional

Position is 6.5hours per day, Monday-Thursday, in the WWUES Collaborative Preschool.

OPPORTUNITY for additional hours working before and after school care EXCL program

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A. Candidate should hold an Associate's degree or 2 years of college diploma or its equivalent (i.e. Para Professional Assessment). Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • B. Candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students and possess a personable relationship with teachers.
  • C. Consideration will be given to the following:
  • ability to carry out directions in both oral and written form.
  • various life/work experiences that contribute to the candidate's overall preparedness. Prior experience working with school age children is a plus.

    Classroom Teacher and School Principal

    SALARY RANGE: $24.90 - $29.11 per hour (per union contract) based upon experience.

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    The Special Service Paraprofessional will provide personal care/hygiene (i.e. lifting up to50poundsand toileting) and assists with medicine regimen. The paraprofessional also may provide a variety of instructional services and classroom support to staff and students. This includes carrying out teacher prepared lesson plans and supervising teacher-planned activities, assisting in the preparation of materials for instruction, and recording individual progress of students.

    This position exhibits a cooperative working relationship with teachers. Experience working with students on the autism spectrum preferred.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Supporting Instruction
      • Circulating in class
      • Modifying instructional materials
      • Assisting students with technology
      • Assisting students with tests and assessments
    • Documentation and Data
      • Observing and collecting data on students
      • Recording student progress – including data
      • Taking attendance
    • Student Management
      • Provides personal care/hygiene (i.e. lifting and toileting)
      • Assists with medicine regimen
      • Maintain on-task behavior
      • Corrects minor behavioral problems
      • Escort students to other classes
      • Scheduling activities
      • Operate media
    • Other
      • Handling records in a confidential manner
      • Performs related duties as assigned
