Overview

Quality Engineer - Stanley Access Technologies, a division of Allegion, is recognized as an industry leader in the manufacturing, installation, and servicing of automatic doors. The Quality Engineer will provide support and improvement of internal manufacturing processes. The Quality Engineer will work with cross disciplinary teams to improve quality and productivity targets through quality assurance planning and continual improvement initiatives. Daily support will include technical problem solving, quality system implementation and auditing, new product launch management and internal/external supplier corrective actions.

This position reports to the site Quality Manager.

What You Will Do
  • Solve or direct efforts to solve complex product quality and process related problems.
  • Act as voice of customer through new product development projects.
  • Recommend internal or vendor design, manufacturing and quality control changes to improve quality and reliability.
  • Gather and analyze product and process data for reporting of improvement items.
  • Develop and apply quality analysis tools for effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Interact with external suppliers, operations, manufacturing systems, design, marketing, customer care, and end users.
  • Develop and maintain quality related documentation including process maps, PFMEA, control plans, standard operating procedures, etc.
  • May occasionally support end-user problem solving visits.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and internal auditor for ISO
    9001 based quality system.
  • Interface on a regular basis with on-site and remote design/engineering functions.
  • Limited supervisor duties as projects dictate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Need To Succeed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field required.
  • 3-5 years of Quality Engineering experience with increasing responsibility in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Supplier Quality Management, or related field, including at least 2 years of direct manufacturing in-plant experience.
  • Demonstrated program management experience and in-depth process improvement and problem solving experience (including tools such as APQP, Lean, Six Sigma, PPAP, 8D, FMEA, VAVE).
  • Use of standard measurement tools (caliper, micrometer, scale, height gauge, etc.).
  • Lead auditor or competence within ISO-9001/TS-16949/AS 9100 quality systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and statistical software.
  • Ability to effectively interact and influence in a matrix organization.
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing, assembly and distribution.
  • English fluency (spoken and written); bilingual considered a strong asset.
  • Minimal travel; this position is on-site and reports to the site Quality Manager.
