Job Description A leading organization in the aerospace, defense, and technology sector is seeking a Junior SOC Monitoring Analyst (2nd Shift) to join its Security Operations Center team. This role is ideal for an early-career cybersecurity professional looking to develop hands‑on experience monitoring, investigating, and responding to security events in a large enterprise environment.
The SOC Monitoring Analyst will leverage security tools and established processes to identify potential threats, analyze alerts, and support incident response activities. The position offers exposure to a broad range of cybersecurity technologies while working alongside experienced security professionals in a collaborative team environment.
This is a long‑term contract opportunity with the potential for extension or conversion. The role follows a hybrid schedule in the Farmington, CT area and requires flexibility to support off‑hours, weekends, and holiday coverage as needed.
Required Skills & Experience- U.S. Citizenship required
- Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Science, or a related field
- CompTIA Security+ certification
- Demonstrated ability to work in a detailed technical environment
- Knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, network topology, and network security
- Understanding of Windows and/or UNIX operating systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Experience with packet analysis tools such as Wireshark or tcpdump
- Familiarity with SIEM platforms including Splunk, syslog, and Net Flow analysis
- Experience working with endpoint security technologies such as Carbon Black, Symantec, McAfee, Forcepoint, or Tanium
- Additional cybersecurity certifications including CySA+, CEH, GSEC, GCIH, GIAC, AWS, Azure, or Cybersecurity Bootcamp certifications
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem‑solving capabilities
- Passion for cybersecurity and continuous learning
- Monitor and investigate security alerts from IDS/IPS, firewalls, proxies, servers, endpoints, and network devices
- Analyze security events within a SIEM environment and determine appropriate response actions
- Escalate incidents in accordance with established incident response procedures
- Review logs and security data to identify suspicious activity and emerging threats
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and IT teams to support enterprise security initiatives
- Document investigations, findings, and response activities
- Assist with ongoing improvements to security operations processes and procedures
- Pay rate:
Up to $27.50/hour - 36-month contract opportunity
