True Benefit, An Amwins Group Company, is conducting a candidate search for a Junior Underwriter, specializing in the health insurance industry, to add to their growing team in Branford, CT (near New Haven) or Farmington, CT (near Hartford). This position will be a hybrid work arrangement.

We are looking for a detail oriented, critical thinker who takes initiative and works consultatively with others. This person will work efficiently and effectively to meet contracted turnaround times when assessing risk on group medical health insurance prospective clients.

• Apply risk management principles to provide preparation of rate quotations, product and benefit recommendations, with a focus on evaluating group medical health insurance risk and supporting appropriate premium development within established underwriting and pricing guidelines.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the sales organization and health insurance carrier partners by providing timely, accurate, and reliable analytical support.
• Actively build industry and product knowledge and support the sales team by learning and communicating foundational pricing concepts, underwriting principles, and market trends.
• Support departmental initiatives focused on improving processes, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency, consistency, and service delivery.
• Perform analytical and data-driven reviews using standard productivity and analytical tools to evaluate historical performance, identify trends, and assist in uncovering opportunities for improvement.

• Ability to work well in team-based environment and adapt in a rapidly changing environment
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Power Point
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Basic data analytics and Power
  
  BI/Tableau skills a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or other applicable major
• No prior health benefits experience necessary, 0-1 years of internship experience in an office setting a plus

Pursuant to Connecticut regulation, the compensation range for this position is as stated and includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses.

Connecticut Pay Range: $58,000 USD - $65,000 USD
