Role Overview

This position is specifically focused on operating CNC lathes and turning centers to manufacture precision components. The operator will be responsible for safely running assigned production jobs, inspecting parts, monitoring tool condition, maintaining required production rates, and promptly identifying quality or process issues.

Work Environment:
Farmington, CT Onsite M-F

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC lathes and turning centers for precision production work
  • Review job travelers, work instructions, blueprints, and inspection requirements before beginning production
  • Verify that the correct material, program, tooling, and work holding are being used
  • Load and unload parts safely and efficiently
  • Monitor machine cycles, cutting conditions, chip control, coolant levels, surface finish, and tool wear
  • Replace worn inserts and cutting tools as needed
  • Make approved tool-wear offset adjustments after demonstrating proficiency
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
  • Measure parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment
  • Document inspection results, production quantities, scrap, and other required information
  • Maintain expected production rates while protecting part quality
  • Stop production and notify the appropriate supervisor when a quality or process problem is identified
  • Perform basic machine cleaning and routine operator-level maintenance
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Critical Competencies For Success
  • Minimum 1 year of CNC machining experience, with demonstrated ability to independently set up and run milling centers.
  • Proven experience operating CNC milling machines, including 3-, 4-, and 5-axis configurations.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience performing part inspections and making machining adjustments based on inspection feedback.
  • Solid understanding of cutting tools, work holding, and machining best practices.
Physical &

Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift materials, tooling, or fixtures as required.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, coolants, and moving equipment.

Pay range
: $25-$30/hr

Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
