Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Operating Room RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Farmington, Connecticut. This role offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and support from a dedicated clinical team.
Required Qualifications- One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications
- OR Nursing Certification (CNOR)
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care throughout the perioperative process, ensuring safety and comfort during surgical procedures.
Essential Work Functions- Prepare the operating room and ensure all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready.
- Assist in patient positioning and preparation, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety.
- Maintain a sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments and supplies promptly.
- Monitor the patient’s condition during surgery and document significant changes.
- Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper use, sterilization, and disposal.
- Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to protocols.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly.
- Participate in patient handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases.
- Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures.
- Follow hospital safety rules, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures.
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and excellent interpersonal communication.
- Read/write/communicate in English.
- Follow written and verbal instructions; proficiency in PC skills.
- Physical abilities: stationary position, move equipment 50‑100lbs, push, pull, bend, and move about.
- Interpersonal skills: work effectively with diverse personnel and maintain a positive attitude.
- Technical/motor skills: fine manipulation, push/pull, and movement during procedures.
- Mental requirements: tolerate frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work under close supervision or independently, manage irregular activity schedules, maintain concentration to detail.
