UConn Health is seeking a highly skilled oncology RN to provide nursing holistic care to assigned patients. The position is located in the Breast Medical Oncology clinic on South Road in Farmington, CT, with potential duties in the Cancer Center’s Outpatient Pavilion.
SCHEDULE: Full‑time, 40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, minor holidays as needed; single unpaid meal break.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:- Perform a full range of nursing care for assigned patients.
- Conduct individualized nursing assessments for each patient.
- Develop and update care plans using established standards of care, incorporating physician‑prescribed therapies and nursing measures derived from disease‑related therapy and patient needs.
- Organize and coordinate patient care.
- Collaborate with staff to implement patient care plans.
- Participate in staff/patient care conferences; assist in clinical education/orientation of other staff; guide and supervise assigned personnel in the delivery of patient care; perform related duties as required.
- Primary responsibilities include patient teaching, care coordination, providing supportive care, and assisting with clinic flow.
- Perform direct nursing care involving blood draws, implanted port access, flushing central lines, pain management, chemotherapy/other medications given via injection; triage phone calls and problem‑solve to meet patient care needs while working with the clinical team.
- Work closely with nursing in the chemotherapy infusion room, without directly covering or administering infusion therapies.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing.
- Knowledge of relevant health‑center policies and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to establish priorities and manage effectively.
- Current RN license in the State of CT (or eligibility for one) and graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Minimum 1 year of acute‑care nursing experience.
- BSN degree or current enrollment in a BSN program.
- Chemotherapy experience and provider CAD (clinical assessment documentation).
- Immunotherapy experience.
- Outpatient clinic experience.
- EPIC charting experience.
