SP - Nurse Practitioner,

This position will work in the New England Sickle Cell Institute and the Hemophilia Treatment Center.

Temporary per diem position with no benefits.

Schedule: Per diem, as needed, variable days Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 30‑minute unpaid meal break.

Hourly Rate: $100.00

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Knowledge of different disciplines and disease states
• Knowledge of medications and their interactions and reactions
• Physical assessment skills
• Counseling skills
• Considerable interpersonal skills
• Oral and written communication skills
• Skill in performing invasive procedures
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to formulate plans of care
• Decision‑making ability

Experience and Training:

• Advanced Practice Nurse certification from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a valid license to practice in the State of Connecticut.

Special Requirement: Two (2) years Nurse Practitioner experience.

• One year Primary Care Provider experience
• Outpatient clinic experience

• Administers treatments, performs physical examinations, and researches medical histories
• Orders laboratory and diagnostic tests, interprets results, prescribes, administers, and dispenses medications and other treatments
• Provides patient/family counseling and education
• Coordinates treatment and makes appropriate referrals to other health care providers as necessary and monitors patient outcomes
• Maintains safety, infection control, and quality of care standards
• Participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team
• Assists in the development of policy and procedures
• Participates in or designs changes in the system of care delivery
• Participates in clinical research and services through teaching and education
• Acts as a clinical consultant/resource to peers and other health care professionals within or outside the institution
