UConn Health is looking for a highly skilled oncology RN that will be responsible for performing a full range of tasks in providing nursing holistic care to assigned patients. This position is located in the award winning Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UConn Health Outpatient Pavilion and will be within the coverage pool for Medical Oncology and Hematology Oncology.

SCHEDULE:
This is a full time position, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 8:0 a.m. to 5:0 p.m., minor holidays as needed; 60 minute unpaid meal break.
- Performs a full range of tasks in providing nursing care to assigned patients.
- Performs individualized nursing assessments for each assigned patient.
- Develops/updates care plans utilizing established standards of care which include physician prescribed therapies and common nursing measures derived from disease related therapy/personal needs.
- Organizes/coordinates patient care.
- Collaborates with staff to implement patient care plans.
- Participates in staff/patient care conferences; assists in clinical education/orientation of other staff; guides and supervises assigned personnel in the delivery of patient care; performs related duties as required.
- Primary responsibilities include patient teaching, care coordination, providing supportive care, and assisting with clinic flow.
- Direct nursing care involved, includes blood draws, implanted port access, flushing central lines, pain management, chemotherapy/other medications given via injections. Answering phone call triages and problem solving to meet patient care needs while working with the clinical team.
- Works closely with nursing in the Cancer Center clinics and chemotherapy APRNs.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing.
- Knowledge of relevant health center policies and procedures.
- Excellent demonstrated interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to establish priorities and manage effectively.
- Candidates must possess and maintain or be eligible for a current RN license in the State of CT; graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Minimum 1 year acute care nursing experience.
- BSN or actively enrolled in a BSN program.
- Chemotherapy experience and provider CAD.
- Immunotherapy experience.
- Outpatient clinic experience.
- EPIC charting experience.
MINIMUM SALARY: $82,576.00 more based on experience.
