UConn Health seeks to fill a temporary, full‑time Special Payroll Research Assistant position. This role supports research activities focused on identifying proteomic signatures underlying multimorbidity using the UK Biobank data. The successful candidate will assist with data analysis, literature review, data management, and preparation of research materials related to aging, multimorbidity, and biomarker discovery research conducted within the Cato T. Laurencin Institute.

Supervision ExercisedMay lead paraprofessional clerical or other lower ranking employees as assigned.
Examples of Duties- Performs a limited range of related duties in conducting laboratory tests, provides support services for assigned research projects.
- May assist higher level research staff on assigned projects.
- Receives trainee assignments in designated research protocols, procedures, techniques and equipment.
- Assist with data cleaning, management, and statistical analyses using UK Biobank.
- Support analyses focused on proteomic signatures and multimorbidity patterns.
- Conduct literature reviews and summarize scientific findings.
- Assist in preparation of tables, figures, abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts for publication.
- Participate in research meetings and collaborative discussions.
- Support mentoring and educational activities within the research group.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Experience with biomedical, epidemiologic, or population-based research.
- Basic knowledge of scientific techniques such as tissue culturing, reagent/solution preparation, staining, etc.
- Basic knowledge of experimental design, mathematics, statistics, computer applications, laboratory equipment and procedure.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify, produce, organize, analyze, evaluate and interpret data.
- Experience working with large datasets and statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, Python, or similar) preferred.
- Interest in aging, multimorbidity, proteomics, or biomarker research.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team.
- Bachelors degree preferably in Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Public Health, Biomedical Sciences, Computational Biology or related field.
- Experience with statistical programming and data visualization.
- Interest in biomedical data science and translational aging research.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) experience.
- Experience with statistical software R.
- Experience with Python.
Incumbents in this class may be required to undergo periodic tests or immunizations for communicable diseases.
Working ConditionsIncumbents in this class may be occasionally required to lift heavy objects such as standard laboratory equipment and/or trays/boxes or glassware; may be exposed to such hazards as broken glass, toxic vapors, radioactive materials, and toxic or disease‑carrying substances.
SCHEDULEFull‑time, 40 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Flexibility is required based on project needs.
SALARYThe hourly rate is $16.94. This position is not eligible for benefits. This is a temporary summer position and will be approximately 8 weeks. Due to the special nature of this position, continuous employment cannot be guaranteed.
