About the Position
Storekeeper Assistant, .
Part-time, 45 hours per week, located in the Laundry/Linen Department at UConn Health, Farmington, CT. Accountable for performing a full range of basic tasks in the receiving, storing and issuing of materials and supplies.
Responsibilities- Perform routine storekeeper assistant tasks, including recordkeeping, requisitioning, and inventory control.
- Provide linen service to the hospital and related clinics, including the Outpatient Pavilion and UConn Musculoskeletal Institute.
- Pickup, push and pull linen carts in excess of fifty (50) pounds; collect soiled linen throughout the clinical areas and consolidate for pickup by the laundry service.
- Monitor control over daily linen requirements; process daily linen add‑ons and cuts; track weights and deliveries daily.
- Fold linen, utilize scrub machine, receive materials and supplies, unpack, count, weigh, inspect for damage or non-conformance.
- Wrap, pick, and assemble items; clean and maintain shelves, bins and other storage spaces.
- Operate simple material handling equipment; drive box truck, van, materials truck, and other related vehicles as required.
- Assist in keeping inventory and perform filing, typing, data entry, and shipping and receiving.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Some interpersonal skills; some oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to keep simple records.
- Possession of a current, valid State of Connecticut driver’s license.
- Current experience in a hospital/clinical setting in materials/supply handling and inventory.
Incumbents must have adequate physical strength, stamina, agility, and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness to perform the duties. A physical examination may be required.
Working ConditionsMay be required to lift moderate to heavy weights, 50 lbs. or more throughout the workday; may be exposed to weather conditions and may be required to handle hazardous materials/chemicals.
SchedulePart time, 45 hours per week, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Holidays are required as scheduled. In urgent/emergency situations must be able to work other mandated shifts. 30‑minute unpaid meal break.
