Job Overview
The University of Maine Farmington is seeking applicants for a Field Supervisor within the College of Education, Health & Rehabilitation. This is a non-tenure track, full-time lecturer position which will begin on August 17, 2026.
The supervisor will place students in public school settings with mentor teachers, organize field placements, and work as a collaborative member of the supervision team. This supervisory position would support work with UMF practicum students and student teachers in partner schools, both Early Childhood and public PK-12 settings, located primarily in Southern and Mid-Coast Maine. The work involves traveling to school sites, conducting observations, conducting formative and summative assessments, pre- and post-conferencing, and acting as a liaison with both mentor teachers and building principals.
Additionally, this position will work with recent graduates on our program self‑evaluation.
The Field Supervisor conducts weekly seminars with students that deal with the classroom experience, the teaching profession, school environments, state and national standards, and portfolio preparation. Other faculty responsibilities include advising, engagement with the work of the College of Education and the Division of Teacher Education, Health & Rehabilitation Services. Field Supervisors also teach a course, depending on the needs of the Division and capacity within their supervision loads.
This position reports to the Director of Field Services and is evaluated annually.
This is a position with a starting annual salary of $56,811.05, plus a 10% employer retirement contribution. QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Education
- A valid Driver's License (based on UMS standards)
- Five (5) years of experience teaching in public schools, which includes leadership or supervisory experience and expertise in PK-12
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a mentor teacher or working with innovative models of pre‑service teacher supervision and school‑university partnerships
- Experience in teaching within a college/university setting.
