Job Goal(s)The Permanent Substitute & Digital Learning Program Facilitator functions in a dual capacity e High School to support building-wide instruction and specialized student retention. For two (2) days per week, the individual serves as the instructional coach and data mentor for a dedicated cohort of hybrid-remote students using the Edgenuity platform. For the remaining three (3) days per week, the individual operates as a traditional building substitute, ensuring instructional continuity across various secondary classrooms.
Qualifications- Experience working within an educational, alternative learning, or youth-mentorship setting.
- Aptitude for navigating digital learning management systems (e.g. Edgenuity).
- Strong organizational skills and the capability to manage student progress and engagement for a small student case load.
- State of Maine Educational Technician III endorsement or Professional Teacher Certification preferred.
- Digital Cohort Monitoring: Track daily log-ins, course pacing metrics, and unit grades for the Digital Learning cohort via the Edgenuity database.
- On-Site Waypoints: Facilitate mandatory weekly or bi-weekly face-to-face check-ins located within the Adult Education building.
- Instructional Bridge: Serve as the functional point-of-contact for unlocking Edgenuity assessments, interpreting progress data with students, and providing 1:1 tutoring intervention on coursework.
- BARR & Attendance Liaison: Collaborate directly with the Mt. Blue Attendance Team and BARR Community Connect to report early warning indicators (tech issues, mental health barriers, or environmental shifts) impacting student engagement.
- Classroom Delivery: Step into diverse 9-12 classrooms to deliver teacher-assigned lesson plans, maintain classroom safety protocols, and manage student behavior.
- Building Adaptability: Maintain flexibility to assist with building coverage needs, including study halls, cafeteria supervision, or student support periods as assigned by the building administration.
- Continuous Presence: Act as a familiar, stable adult face within the school building, reinforcing behavioral expectations and positive school climate across all settings.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 90 college credits required.
Full Time
- School Year Only
- 5 days weekly on-site matching the RSU 9 academic calendar.
- Fixed split schedule (e.g., Tuesday/Thursday dedicated to Digital Learning Program operations; Monday/Wednesday/Friday dedicated to general building substituting), finalized by administration at the start of each semester.
