Are you a dynamic communicator who loves helping students unlock their future? The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is looking for a versatile Admissions and Financial Aid Counselor to serve as a vital bridge between prospective students, their families, and our vibrant campus community!

In this exciting hybrid liaison role, you will split your expertise between Admissions and Financial Aid, guiding future Farmington students through every step of their journey—from their very first college fair to understanding their financial aid awards.

Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the anticipated annual salary for this position is up to $46,300 plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents.

What You’ll Do
  • Be the Face of UMF: Represent Farmington as an enthusiastic ambassador on and off campus, delivering high-energy public presentations, info sessions, and panels.
  • Hit the Road: Lead 8 to 12 weeks of recruitment travel each year to high schools, college fairs, receptions, and community organizations, along with coverage for 4 to 8 weekend campus events annually.
  • Guide & Connect: Evaluate prospective candidates in your assigned territory while building meaningful relationships with prospective inquiries, admitted students, families, faculty, coaches, and staff.
  • Demystify Financial Aid: Counsel families and prospective student-athletes on scholarship opportunities, the financial aid process, award packages, and checklist completion.
  • Innovate & Collaborate: Partner with UMF's Peer-to-Peer Financial Literacy and Education Program to design engaging financial education initiatives for incoming families.

Job Description Qualifications

Required:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Key

    Skills:

    Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; strong problem-solving and adaptable disposition; ability to manage sensitive, confidential financial details with care.
Preferred:
  • Prior experience in Higher Education, Admissions (recruitment, territory management, yield events), or Financial Aid (FAFSA processing, counseling, managing loans/scholarships).
