Job Goal(s): To provide a safe and clean learning environment enabling students to take full advantage of the district's educational program. This position is responsible for transporting students safely and efficiently to and from school or events, and representing the district with utmost professionalism.

• Passed a physical exam directed by state requirements and compliant with district physician recommendations.
• Ability to read and comprehend technical information.

• Self‑directed and motivated.
• Physical ability to lift 40 lbs., stand, climb stairs and ladders, and perform prolonged lifting, pushing, pulling, and bending.

• Maine DOE Certification – Valid CHRC.
• Valid CDL Class B Maine Driver’s License with passenger and school bus endorsements.

• Maintain a valid Class B Maine State Driver's License with passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Pass any district, state, or federal mandated physical examinations.
• Perform pre‑trip inspections of district vehicles per Transportation Policies.
• Check oil, coolant, and fuel levels at proper operating levels.
• Maintain vehicles in safe, clean condition.
• Report defects or mechanical failures using proper documentation.
• Supervise and discipline passengers professionally.
• Report students requiring disciplinary action to the Director of Transportation.
• Observe and obey all district, local, and state traffic laws.
• Stay on assigned route; discharge passengers only at authorized stops.
• Offer input regarding bus routes, stops, and notify the transportation office of any changes.
• Notify the transportation office if the vehicle is running late; maintain proper radio etiquette.
• Perform at least three emergency evacuations per trip of students annually; provide documentation to the transportation office.
• Attend all transportation safety meetings and conferences as directed.
• Report all accidents to the Director of Transportation immediately.
• Wear proper uniform attire and maintain serviceability.
• Follow district policies and contractual obligations with a professional attitude.
• Follow time‑clock procedures.
• Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform additional duties as directed by the Director of Transportation and/or designee.
• Participate in the Driving Dynamics course as recommended by the state and required by the district.
• Perform general custodial and maintenance duties at assigned location(s).
• Maintain a custodial inventory of materials and supplies on your cart and closet.
• Perform emergency custodial duties during the school day if scheduled.
• Replace materials as needed in areas maintained by Custodial Services.
• Maintain the building in a safe, neat, and orderly fashion.
• Help keep grounds and play areas free from litter.
• Use proper operation and cleaning methods for any machinery or equipment.
• Use proper cleaning methods for spaces under your responsibility.
• Assume responsibility for the general security of the building.
• Assume responsibility for the general fire safety of the building.
• Maintain communication with the Lead Custodian regarding building needs or problems.
• Report maintenance issues to the Lead Custodian.
• Participate in any professional development offered for Custodial Services.
• Become familiar with all emergency procedures of the building, including valves, switches, and other equipment.
• Offer input to the Lead Custodian and/or Director of Operations regarding materials, equipment, procedures, and maintenance needs.
• Know and understand the use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
