Safety Specialist

This position is remote, with the expectation that the selected candidate resides and works within the Metro Detroit area and surrounding communities.

This position offers a base salary range of $61,843.00 - $ per year, depending on experience and qualifications, plus bonus based on company performance.

OVERVIEW

Support the safety initiatives of the department leadership. Responsible to identify, evaluate and eliminate/control all industrial/construction risks through technical knowledge and expertise, while promoting a positive safety culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)

1. Assist in development, implementation, and maintenance of applicable safety programs

2. Assist in development, scheduling, documentation, maintenance, and tracking of applicable safety training(s)

3. Perform industrial hygiene sampling, ergonomic assessments, and other assigned evaluations/assessments

4. Conduct and engage teams in safety committees and meetings

5. Perform and assist in closure of near miss/incident investigations and provide assistance in regulatory inspections

6. Perform routine compliance-based observations and inspections related to company safety programs and initiatives.

7. Perform, coordinate, and maintain the process for inspecting and maintaining safety equipment

8. Assist in site environmental compliance (permitting, inspections, waste management, etc.)

9. Actively identify risk opportunities and control measures through feedback, observation, data trending, and continuous education to create a safer workplace

10. Work with the Sheetz Team to promote a proactive and engaged safety culture

QUALIFICATIONS

(Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)

Education

* Bachelor's degree in occupational safety or related safety engineering required.

Experience

* Minimum 1 year safety experience within construction or general industry required.

Licenses/Certifications

* Valid Driver's License required
