Quality Control Inspector

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods to ensure compliance with company quality standards and customer specifications. This role works closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Purchasing to identify quality concerns, support corrective actions, and maintain consistent product quality throughout the production process.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily inspections on the plant floor, including incoming, in-process, and final product inspections.
  • Determine acceptance or rejection of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods based on quality standards and specifications.
  • Ensure quality procedures and standards are understood and followed throughout the facility.
  • Communicate product deficiencies and quality concerns to the appropriate departments for prompt resolution.
  • Assist in identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, and other departments to improve quality performance.
  • Conduct limited travel to vendor locations, primarily in-state, to review supplier quality processes and investigate quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate inspection and quality documentation.
  • Follow all company safety policies and government regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and uphold company core values.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications &

Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience using metrology equipment and inspection tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Leadership skills to reinforce adherence to quality procedures and standards in the workplace.

Education:

  • Associate degree in a technical field preferred.

Computer

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Lotus and Mac-Pac software preferred.

Certifications:

  • ASQ Auditor Certification preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Regular standing, walking, and use of hands and arms to inspect and move parts.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, and bending.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical equipment and vibrations.
  • Manufacturing environment with elevated noise levels; hearing protection required in designated areas.
