Description
Residential Shift Supervisor | Leading Teams, Supporting Youth & Creating Opportunities for Growth
Wellspring Lutheran Services – New Directions | Full-Time | Salary $55,000 | Accepting applications until August 10, 2026.
You chose this field because you wanted your work to make a difference.
You believe that young people deserve caring adults who will challenge them, encourage them, and help them discover what they're capable of becoming. You understand that meaningful change doesn't happen through policies and procedures alone—it happens through relationships, consistency, leadership, and a commitment to showing up every day.
At New Directions, you'll have the opportunity to lead a team that's doing exactly that.
We're looking for a Shift Supervisor who believes that investing in staff is one of the most powerful ways to positively impact the youth we serve.
As a Shift Supervisor, you'll provide leadership, coaching, and support to direct care staff while helping ensure a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for residents. You'll play an important role in shaping team culture, supporting treatment goals, and helping youth experience consistency from the adults who care for them every day.
Most importantly, you'll help create the kind of environment where both youth and employees can grow, succeed, and reach their full potential.
What Your Impact Will Look Like
You'll lead and support a team of Youth Specialists who work directly with residents throughout the day.
You'll serve as a coach, mentor, and resource for staff, helping them develop the confidence, skills, and knowledge needed to provide exceptional care and support.
You'll help ensure trauma-informed care remains at the center of every interaction, creating an environment where youth feel safe, supported, and understood.
You'll work alongside the clinical and residential teams to help youth make progress toward treatment goals, develop healthy coping skills, and build greater independence.
You'll help guide staff through challenging situations, provide support during crises, and model calm, consistent leadership when it's needed most.
You'll contribute to a positive culture where accountability, teamwork, growth, and respect are foundational to the work being done.
Some days you'll be coaching a new team member, participating in treatment discussions, or helping resolve challenges on the living unit. Other days you'll be celebrating staff successes, supporting youth through difficult moments, or helping the team navigate an unexpected situation.
Every day, your leadership will help shape the experiences of both the youth and employees who depend on you.

- You remain calm under pressure and are comfortable making decisions in challenging situations.
- You are committed to trauma-informed care and person-centered support.
What You'll Bring
One of the following qualifications is required:
- Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in a child caring institution, or

- High school diploma and 4 years of experience in a child caring institution.
