Compensation: $17.83 per hour, 29 hours per week. Compensation Type:

This position is responsible for providing clerical and customer service support for the Dental Hygiene program’s dental clinic.
Major Duties- Provides customer services; answers telephone and greets patients; provides information and assistance.
- Coordinates and oversees scheduling and cancelling of patient appointments.
- Trains students in the use of Practice Management Software System (PMSS).
- Enters student clinical tracking data into PMSS.
- Maintains chart audit binder and assigns student audits using patient tracking data from PMSS.
- Implements and updates fee schedules.
- Processes insurance billing.
- Maintains patient records.
- Assists the Director in overseeing physical, electronic and administrative security protocols to ensure confidentiality of patient’s PHI in accordance with HIPAA.
- Distributes and assigns patients to students; coordinates the transfer of patients from graduates to incoming seniors.
- Enters information into a computerized database.
- Processes patient billing.
- Coordinates and balances clinic payments in various forms (CC, cash, check) and receipts with business office deposits.
- Coordinates electronic and mail communications with patients and other health care providers.
- Coordinates all special needs patient services.
- Maintains current certifications.
- Assists, as needed, with clinical operations such as stocking supplies and sterilization as assigned by the Director.
- Serves on college committees.
- Assists in program accreditation functions.
- Provides access and supervision for student’s setup of morning clinic sessions.
- Maintains clinic files and records.
- Maintains inventory of clinic forms and labels.
- Maintains the Clinic Patient Reception area clean and disinfects each week.
- Coordinates with housekeeping to ensure that lavatory is stocked and clean.
- Performs related duties.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures.
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of college and program policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of computers and job‑related software programs.
- Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
- Skill in the use of office equipment such as a computer, scanner, fax machine, and copier.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
The position may involve some assistance with clinical duties from time to time and it is advised that the applicant be current on all vaccinations.
