Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation: $778 per credit hour (or hourly rate as applicable).
- Maximum teaching load: 9 credit hours per semester (subject to approval).
- Tuition waiver: eligible for one (1) credit class or up to four (4) credit hours per semester; waiver may be transferred to a qualified family member.

Adjunct faculty serve as temporary, part‑time instructors on a semester‑by‑semester basis. The primary duty is effective teaching of college‑level courses and/or labs in the qualified discipline. Duties also include developing and revising instructional materials; presenting material in an organized manner; evaluating student learning; maintaining student records; teaching day, evening, weekend, and online classes as assigned; maintaining a minimum of one office hour per week per assigned course;
and participating in Adjunct Professional Development activities.
- Teach assigned courses and labs following the university’s curriculum standards.
- Prepare and update course materials and assessments.
- Deliver instruction in a variety of formats (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online).
- Maintain accurate and timely student records.
- Provide at least one office hour per week for each course.
- Engage in professional development and promote school values:

- Master’s degree in psychology, sociology, human services, business, or a closely related field (minimum 18 graduate credit hours).
- Preference for candidates with prior teaching experience.
- Experience with traditional face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online courses.
- Proficiency in using San Juan College’s Learning Management System (Canvas) and other technology platforms.
- Access to reliable home internet, a personal computer, and a telephone.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn and use multiple technology platforms for student communication.
