Paraprofessional Position

North Trail Elementary School offers a position for a paraprofessional at $22.00 per hour for the 2026-27 school year, working 32 hours per week in center-based classrooms. Two positions are available. The role involves providing assistance to teachers in meeting the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities. This includes working with individual students or small groups to reinforce motor, academic, social, self-care, or communication skills under the direction of the teacher.

The paraprofessional will assist in devising strategies for reinforcing skills based on an understanding of students' needs, interests, and abilities. They will also assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs. Assistance with physical disabilities, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, and positioning, is required.

Qualifications include experience working with children and work experience in an educational setting. A minimum high school diploma or equivalent, an AA degree, or 60 semester college credits, or passing the para pro test is required. Six months of experience working with children or six months of post-secondary education in early childhood, speech pathology, special education, or other similar fields may substitute for experience.
