Position Summary
Adjunct faculty serve as temporary part‑time faculty and are appointed on a semester‑by‑semester basis. The primary duty is effective teaching of college‑level courses and/or labs in the qualified discipline. Remote or hybrid work may be approved for adjunct employees in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Texas, with all requests needing prior approval by the Dean and Human Resources.
Compensation$27.87–$30.06 per hour depending on degree, $47.34 for candidates with a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. Adjunct faculty are paid bi‑weekly at either $801 per credit hour or at an hourly rate as applicable. Adjunct faculty teaching one (1) credit class or more are eligible for a tuition waiver benefit.
Responsibilities- Develop and revise instructional materials.
- Present material in an organized manner.
- Evaluate student learning and maintain student records.
- Teach day, evening, weekend, and online classes as assigned.
- Teach at the main campus and/or satellite campuses as assigned.
- Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week per assigned course.
- Participate in adjunct professional development activities.

- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant or Physical Therapy program is required.
- A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, or the applicant must be willing to pursue this degree and complete it within 3–5 years.
- PTA board licensed in the state of New Mexico and keeping the license current on an annual basis.
- Preference given to candidates with prior teaching experience.
- Experience with traditional face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online courses.
- Ability to use San Juan College’s Learning Management System (Canvas) and technology‑enhanced curriculum.
- Access to home internet, a personal computer, and a telephone.
- Demonstrates skill and willingness to learn and use multiple technology platforms to communicate with students.
