Job Summary
Provide academic and behavior support to students with disabilities.
Essential Duties- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce motor, academic, social, self-care or communication skills under the direction of the teacher.
- Assist the teacher(s) in devising strategies for reinforcing skills based on understanding of students’ needs, interests and abilities.
- Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
- Assist students with physical disabilities (e.g., transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, positioning).
- Assist students with physical needs and personal care (e.g., feeding, toileting, personal hygiene).
- Assist students while in mainstream classes.
- Experience working with children; work experience in an educational setting preferred.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent and AA degree or 60 semester college credits or pass the para pro test.
Salary: $22 per hour; 32 hours per week; 5 paid holidays; sick and personal leave; health and dental eligible. Full listing of benefits can be found in the Collective Bargaining agreement.
Work Location and HoursAkin Road Elementary, 2026–2027 school year. 32 hours per week.
