Chief Boiler Operator – Farmington, MN | Dairy / Food Manufacturing Plant | Full-Time | $41.30 per hour

Position Summary

A dairy manufacturing facility in Farmington, MN is seeking an experienced Chief Boiler Operator to oversee the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of boiler and mechanical systems. This role involves supervising plant personnel, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining high standards of safety and reliability in a food production environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and work alongside assistant operators and mechanics by delegating repair, maintenance, and monitoring tasks
  • Schedule jobs, provide clear instruction, and deliver constructive feedback on performance
  • Maintain a valid Chief Boiler Operator license
  • Ensure optimal and continuous operation of boilers and mechanical systems through routine inspections, monitoring metering equipment, and making necessary adjustments
  • Perform and schedule preventative maintenance including inspections, cleanings, filter replacements, and system checks
  • Troubleshoot, repair, or replace malfunctioning components to minimize downtime
  • Monitor safety equipment and operating conditions; identify hazards and take appropriate action, including suspending operations when required
  • Obtain replacement parts and recommend equipment upgrades while adhering to budgetary guidelines
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and food manufacturing regulations
  • Accurately document inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs
  • Stay current on industry technology, best practices, and regulatory requirements; recommend improvements as needed
Work Schedule

This position follows a rotating schedule:

  • Week 1:
  • Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Friday: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Week 2:
  • Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Qualifications
  • Active Chief A or B Boiler Operator license (required)
  • Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment (food or dairy production preferred)
  • Prior supervisory or lead operator experience
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment
