Special Services Paraprofessional

Reports To:

Building Principal or Designee

Education and Experience:

Minimum requirement of 60 college hours or passed the Paraprofessional Assessment or completed Missouri's online substitute training program Special Services Teacher Certification or previous Special Services Paraprofessional experience, preferred Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

• Maintains confidentiality of information gained through the performance and location of the position
• Discusses assigned teaching area with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts
• Prepares lesson outline and plan in assigned area and submits outline to teacher for review
• Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids
• Creates learning materials geared to student's ability and interest
• Presents subject matter to students, utilizing variety of methods and techniques
• May prepare, administer, and grade examinations as directed by the teacher
• Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts
• Works closely with Special Services teacher(s) for the success of the students
• Maintains discipline
• May confer with parents on progress of students as directed by the supervisor
• Supervises students during class, learning activities, and at play, as assigned
• Takes all reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
• May be required to transport students or to accompany students in transport as directed by supervisor
• May be required to assist students with personal cleanliness and self-care
• Complies with policy, procedures, regulations, and law
• Other duties and tasks as assigned
