Reports to:
Early Childhood Coordinator and Assistant Superintendent
Summary of Position:Instructs parents prenatal through kindergarten entry in developmental information.
Education and Experience Requirements:- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Elementary Education, Vocational Home Economics or Family and Consumer Sciences, or Occupational Child Care Services and demonstrated ability to work with young children and their parents; or
- Associates Degree or two year certificate program in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Nursing and demonstrated ability in working with young children and their parents; or
- 60 college hours and two years of successful experience in a program working with young children and their parents.
Required:
- Knowledge of the developmental domains of a child from birth through five years of age.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain relationships with young children and their families.
- Demonstrate organizational and planning skills; oral and written communication skills.
- Possess the ability to be self-motivated, flexible, and a team player.
- Valid Missouri driver's license with appropriate vehicle insurance as primary insured
- Ability to acquire certification as a parent educator, and maintain that certification (Training is required and provided, upon hire)
- Flexible Schedule is available
- A minimum of 1-2 evenings a week required
- Maintains confidentiality of information gained through the performance and location of the position.
- Travels to homes and provides in-home training to parents.
- Provides timely information on child's development and parent-child activities.
- Develops individualized lessons covering self-help, motor, social, cognitive, and language skills development for parents to implement in home.
- Increases parent confidence in child-rearing activities.
- Provides screening for children from birth to kindergarten age to identify possible delays, physical problems, or advanced abilities.
