Parkland Hospital (both location at Farmington and Bonne Terre) has a full-time Medical Lab Scientist II position to work as a Generalist! A great opportunity for Lab Professional who has an AMT, ASCP, AAB or equivalent certifcation or certification eligible and enjoys working in a community based-hospital.

• 8 hour rotating Shifts between Evenings (2-10:30pm) and Nights (10pm - 6:30am)
• Every other weekend
• 3 Holidays per year

Parkland Health Center has two locations in St. Francois County, Missouri - a full-service acute care hospital in Farmington as well as a rural emergency hospital in Bonne Terre.

Parkland Health Center provides quality primary and secondary level inpatient and outpatient services to the people of St. Francois County and surrounding areas in southeastern Missouri.

In addition, Parkland’s Farmington campus offers a full continuum of inpatient and medical-surgical and intensive care, obstetrics and emergency services, along with a wide variety of outpatient services including oncology services, an infusion center, a wound care clinic, and the Huckstep Heart and Lung Center. Bonne Terre is a Rural Emergency Hospital providing emergency services and outpatient services including medical observation, lab, radiology, and sleep study.

The laboratory provides outpatient diagnostic lab services as ordered by the physician, who is working to provide quality treatment for the patients condition.

The Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) II performs specimen processing and routine / complex testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities as required. Demonstrates good clinical laboratory practice

• Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs all testing and operation of equipment as necessary to deliver quality results.
• Trains new laboratory personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
• Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Assesses technical and or instrument problems, including quality control and abnormal findings, evaluate possible solutions and chooses an appropriate course of action to solve the problem.
• Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and initiatives by proactively diagnosing and resolving problems. Specific quality functions are handled in an organized and timely fashion.

• Bachelor's Degree
• Physical/Life Science/related

• Less than 2 years

• No Experience

• ASCP, AMT, AAB or equivalent or eligible

• Supervisor Experience < 2 years
