Parkland Health Center has two locations in St. Francois County, Missouri – a full‑service acute care hospital in Farmington as well as a rural emergency hospital in Bonne Terre.
Parkland Health Center provides quality primary and secondary level inpatient and outpatient services to the people of St. Francois County and surrounding areas in southeastern Missouri.
In addition, Parkland’s Farmington campus offers a full continuum of inpatient and medical‑surgical and intensive care, obstetrics and emergency services, along with a wide variety of outpatient services including oncology services, an infusion centre, a wound care clinic, and the Huckstep Heart and Lung Centre. Bonne Terre is a Rural Emergency Hospital providing emergency services and outpatient services including medical observation, lab, radiology, and sleep study.
The laboratory provides outpatient diagnostic lab services as ordered by the physician, who is working to provide quality treatment for the patients condition.
Preferred QualificationsRole Purpose
The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) II (REG) performs specimen processing and routine / complex testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities as required. Demonstrates good laboratory practice.
Responsibilities- Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.
- Documents patient test management problems/concerns on quality documents and initiates corrective action.
- Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Monitors quality control performance and corrects any problems and or reports any problems to the appropriate department.
- Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs laboratory procedures for specimen collection, processing, test analysis.
- Trains new personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
